Business Notes.

The fishing season is now at hand, and. the “speckled beauties’’ will soon be in evidence again. Messrs Steans Brothers, of the Southland Fishing Tackle Depot, have a large stock of new goods opened for the season, and are issuing a comprehensive circular to their fishing friends. Mi- Frank A. Steans has made a study of the requirements for local rivers, and is ever ready to assist the amateur or the expert fisherman.

There are moments in life when we seem to suddenly wake from a dream to realise the facts of life—poignant facts which are like nothing that has gone before, which seem to catch some supernatural light, like the crest of the wave, revealed' in the light of the moon which has just emerged from dark clouds. When r feeling of that kind comes, a great, relief can be obtained by stepping round to the Phonograph Supply. Store in the Arcade, and the manager, Mr Hansen, will take pleasure in showing you some of his lovely phonographs, and what’s more, treat you to some splendid selections from his newly-landed records.

Mr W. 33. Scandrett has a numben of desirable properties for disposal.

Messrs Eillicrap, McNaughton and Co. have a large range of the latest literature on hand ; also pianos etc. at moderate price*.

Mr T. Ekensteen can supply purebred leghorn' eggs for sitting; also Indian runner duck eggs at moderate pcices.

Have you a grit-mill ? If not you should secure one from Mr T. Ekensteen, Dee st. North, opposite Neil’s Dispensary.

Mr Joseph Holloway announces in this issue that he has taken over the business of Messrs Featherstorna and Co., land and estate agents. Mr Holloway has been a valued member of the firm since it was established, and clients can rely on the “ genial Joe”- giving his best attention to their requirements. Mr Holloway has a number of house properties, sections, and farms for disposal.

"Once open the door of trouble, and its visits are threefold,” but if you wish to make amends and close the door, the best course to take is to buy your friend or sweetheart a present. Now, the best place to get a present is undoubtedly at the Novelty Depot, in the Arcade, where a new stock is on sale that would please the best in the land. The prices are right. Call and see. Messrs J. A. Mitchell and Co. have accepted the agency for Messrs Kompthorzie, Prosser and Co.’s wellknown special manures. They have stood the test, and farmers need have no hesitation in giving them a trial.

At sometime during the life of everyone comes the opportunity of mailing money. Your opportunity is now at hand if you will only call at S. E. Holmes and Co.'s, in Tay st. The sale closes to-night, and as there is a grand selection of"useful and ornamental articles, including crockery, glassware, E.P. ware, fire screens, and all the latest novelties in photo frames, it will be to your advantage to call.

“It is not always the man with the biggest head that has the most brains.” To our mind, the man who shows sound common sense is the one who rides one of Bob Murie'a £■ll Phoenix cycles. They are fully guaranteed, and built as British cycles should be built.

A few weeks ago we called attention to the fact that the Invercargill Labour Agency, in the “Southern Cross” buildings had a number of good men waiting positions. Quite a number of them are placed, with satisfaction to all parties. Mr Neil, the manager informs us that he has a number of reliable hands waiting work, and mill managers, sawmillers, farmers, and others, in quest of men, should consult him.

Every man can be useful ; every man can be a leader if Ire instructs his wife to procure some of Lindsay’s nice roasts of pork and never-equall-ed pork sausages.

East Invercargill is a very nice suburb to live in. Mr R. J. Gumming has an ideal residence for sal© there ; also a neat well-built property in Appleby. Messrs Stewart, Fawkner and Co. insert a notice to the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of the borough of Invercargill.

Mr C. H. Roberts is calling tenders or a “Wesley” Methodist church. Well done, Wesleyans !
