REVIEW OF REVIEWS.
The announcement made in the December Review of Reviews that the 1906 programme wouijci be a very full one, .seems likely to receive confirmation from the splendid January number just to hand. While it has the usual wide-world features it has more than the usual space devoted to Australasian matters and articles. The articles upon “The;Local Option Poll in New Zealand,” "Preferential Voting,” and the "Housing Problem,” respectively by the Editor, Professor Nanson, and Mr Percy Meggy, will be found up-to-date and interesting. Professor Nanson’s article will, in view of the divided votes at present registered in all the Parliaments in of Australasia, throw a good deal of light on our present out-of-date methods of conducting elections, or registering public opinion . The character sketches comprise two very choice ones on "Our Faerie Queen ” (Queen Alexandra) and King Haakon (the newly-elected King of Norway), and a very timely one on the late Sir Henry Irving. In addition to this there are "London Punch Pictures,” the "History of the world in Caricature,” "Leading Articles in the Reviews,” and a review of the principal magazines the world over. All book-lovers will be glad of the page devoted to the latest books issued from the world’s presses. If it keeps up to anything like this standard, the Review of Reviews should receive the warmhearted support of every literary man and woman throughout Australasia. It maintains a high ideal for the Australasian nation, and keeps its readers thoroughly up-to-date with the progress of the world.
