HOKONUI.

The wedding bells were gaily ringing on Wednesday, 11th January, when Mr Wm. Young, of Hedgehope, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Mary Irwin, second youngest daughter of Mr J. Irwin, of Hokonui. The wedding took place at the residence of the bride’s father, in the presence of a few friends and relations. Mr Donald Young, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best mao, and Miss Gill as bridesmaid. In the evening, in response to a large number of invitations issued far and wide, a large number of friends assembled at the Brown’s public hall where a most enjoyable concert and dance was held. Fully 60 couples to®k part in the grand march, which was led off by the happy couple. The music was supplied by Messrs J. Carrol (piano), Laing and Brown (violins), and Evans (cornet), which was proof enough of its excellence, while Mr Malcolm McLeod acted as M.C. in his usual courteous and obliging manner. Songs, recitations, and step-dances were given at intervals, several ladies contributing. The refreshments were all that could be desired, and everything possible was done for the comfort ofbhe guests. Before dispersing, three hearty cheers were given for the young couple, who left by the morning train en route for Christchurch, where they propose spending their honeymoon.
