LAND SALES.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Go. report having offered and Sold by auction on Saturday last, at their Crescent rooms, Invercargill, the following farms ; Account Mr John Arthur, Te Tua, his well-known dairy farm, being section 15, Block XVII, Longwood District, containing 109 acres 2 roods, to Mr John Horrell, Olifden, Waiau, at £4 15s per acre. Account Mr George Gumming of Palmerston South, his choice Fairfax property, being part Section 36, Block VIII, Jacobs River Hundred, containing 421 acres in two equal parts, the north half being purchased by Mr William Brown, Thornbury, at £7 per acre, and the south half by Mr John Forde, junr., Fairfax, at £6 15a per acre. The firm also report having sold by private treaty, on account Mr William Varcoe, Invercargill, his Dipton farm, being section 576, Hokonni Survey District, containing 187 acres, 0 roods, 33 poles, at a satis-
factory price, to Mi* John McLauchlan, Dipton. The firm also report having sold to Mr John Tait of Otekaike station, Oamaru, at a satisfactory price, allotments 56, 57, 58 and part of allotment 54, Castlerock Estate, containing about 11,400 acres freehold and 5974 acres leasehold country. This is a fine compact block of land and contains some of the best pastoral country in Southland. It has, too, sufficient agricultural land with it to enable any winter feed required to be grown and also to fatten off the surplus stock. The situation, too, is very good, good roads and railway communication being at hand. Mr Tait takes possession immediately after shearing, and will use the property mainly as a breeding one.
