HOUSEHOLD HINTS.

Earache. —There is scarcely any ache to which children are subject, so bad to bear and so difficult to cure as the earache. But there is a remedy never known to fail. Take a bit of cotton batting, put upon it a pinch of pepper, gather it up and tie it, dip in a sweet oil and insert in the ear. Put a flannel bandage over the head to keep it warm. It will give instant relief. Wet Boots.—When boots are wet through, do not dry them by tire fire. As soon as they are taken off, fill them quite full with dry oats. This grain will rapidly absorb every vestige of damp from wet leather. As it takes up the moisture, it swells and fills the boot like a tightly-fitting last, keeping its form good, and drying the leather without hardening it. In the morning shake out the oats and hang them in a bag near the fire to dry, ready fbr use on another occasion. New Potato Pie. —Grate a teacupful of potato ; to this quantity allow one quart of sweet milk ; let the milk come to a boil, then stir in the grated potato; when cool add three wellbeaten eggs, sugar and flavoring to suit the taste ; nutmeg or cinnamon are the most suitable. Bake with undercrust only and eat while fresh.
