RYAL BUSH.
One of the most enjoyable balls ever held in Ryal Bash was given by the spinsters in the public hall on the night of the 17th inst. The weather was perfect —calm and bright moonlight, and though the roads could scarcely have been in a worse state, the hall was well filled, many coming a long distance. About thirty couples took part in the grand march. Excellent music was discoursed by T. Lang and company of Lochiel, assisted by Messrs Wishart and Sullivan. Songs were given by Messrs Pert, McDonald. Gray, Halpin and Patterson, Mesdames Patterson, Lang and McDonald, and Misses Pert and Wakeling. Miss Burgess made an efficient M.G. till midnight, when Mr James Hamilton relieved her. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags, ferns and flowers, and, together with the pretty dresses of the ladies, presented a gay appearance. The refreshments, both solid and fluid, were tempting and plentiful. Dancing was kept up till about 4.30 a.m., when ‘ Auld Lang Syne ’ was sung, and a night’s sociable enjoyment ended. The bachelors intend giving a ball here on the 15th Oct. With a strong committee and Mr J. Mclntosh as secretary, it should prove a thorough success.
