The members o£ the Invercargill Amatenr Dramatic Club gave a concert in aid of our Athletic Society’s funds on the 16th inst. The building was well filled despite unfavourable weather. The concert opened with a piece entitled ‘ The Haunted House,’ and concluded with a darkey farce. Songs were rendered by Misses Kirwan and Stone, Messrs R. Wills, Griffiths, McGrath, and a quartette by Misses Hishon and Kirwan, and Messrs Wills and McGrath, and Mr J. McGrath played a cornet solo excellently, Miss Hishon acted as accompanist. Mr W. A. Young, president of the Athletic Society, occupied the chair. The dance which followed was very largely attended, music being supplied gratis by Messrs Moylan, Rodger, and several others, Refreshments on a liberal scale were provided by the ladies of the district. The acting of the members of the Club helped materially in the success of the entertainment.
