THE WORK TABLE.
Pattern for a Cosy.—This cosy is worked in two colours, also in two pieces. These pieces are only joined a short distance top and bottom, the handle and spout going through the holes. Cast on as many stitches as will make half the required size : make it a number divisible by 4. Ist row, plain ; 2nd, row, purl ; 3rd row, plain; 4th row, purl ; sth row, k 8, turn the work, p 4, turn, k 4, turn, p 4 turn, k 12, p 4, turn, and repeat as for former stripe until end of work ; 6th row, turn, change the wool for other colour, p 4, slip 4, p 4, s 4, to the end of row ; 7th row, k 4, s 4, k 4, to the end of row ; Brh row, purl and slip to end of row ; 9th row, same as 7tb ; 10th row, all purl. Commence again from the beginning: a cord is run through the top.
