CROCHET LACE.
Material: No 30 Chadwick’s cotton, fine steel hook. Make a chain of 25 stitches, turn and work a treble in the twelfth from hook and 1 into each of the next 3 stitches, 2 chain, 1 treble into the same stitch as the last, 3 chain, pass over 2, a double crochet into the third, 3 chain, pass over 3, a treble into each of the next 4,2 chain, 1 treble into the same stitch as the last, 11 chain, turn, and * work a treble on top of the nearest treble in the previous row, a treble into each ot the next 3 stitches, 2 chain, 1 treble into the same stitch as last, 6 chain, pass over the four trebles, and work a treble into the next treble, and 1 in each of the next three stitches, 2 chain, 1 treble in same stitch as last, 11 chain, turn, 1 treble on top of nearest treble, 1 into each of the next 3 stitches, 2 chain, 1 treble into same stitch as the last, 3 chain, 1 double crochet in the third chain of the 6 in previous row, 3 chain, pass over the remaining 3 chain, a treble in each of the next 4 stitches, 2 chain, 1 treble in same stitch as last, 11 chain, turn, and repeat from * for length of lace required. First Row op Border, Commence from middle stitch of first loop 7 chain into middle of next
loop; 5 chain into next loop, anji continue making alternately 7 and 5 chain from loop to loop to end of row. Fasten off. 2nd row: Work * treble into the first stitch of the 7 chain, 1 chain, 1 treble into same stitch, 1 chain, 1 double treble into the 2nd stitch, 5 chain back into sth from hook (form-: ing a picot), 1 double treble into same stitch as last, 1 chain, 1 double treble into the third chain stitch, a picot, and another double treble into the same stitch, 1 chain, 1 double treble into the 4th chain stitch, 2 picots, 1 double treble into same stitch, I chain, 1 double treble into sth chain stitch, 1 picot, 1 double treble into same, 1 chain, 1 double treble into 6th chain stitch, I picot, 1 double treble into same, 1 chain, 1 treble into 7tb chain stitch, 1 chain, 1 treble into same, 1 treble, 1 double crochet into the middle of the 5 chain between the next two loops, and repeat from. * to end of row. Finish with a heading of 6 chain from loop to loop.
