INVERCARGILL HORSE MARKET.

Messrs J. A. Mitchell and 00. report haying held their weekly sale in their yards, Dee street, on Saturday, and had a medium entry, about fifty horses coming forward. These, for the greater part, were a very mixed lot; only a very small proportion being decent sorts. The day being a good harvest one, there was a very small attendance of farmers, and very few of those present appeared to have come with the intention of buying. Good average draughts are enquired for, and we sold several at £SO to £42 10s; aged, stale draughts are barely saleable at any price; they may, however, improve towards ploughing time. Dor strong, active spring carters, suitable for rabbit carts, there was fair competition, and we disposed of the few decent ones forward at from £l6 to £26 ; light harness horses and hacks : nothing very good entered, sold at £2 to £l3.
