INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES Afc the meeting- of the town council on Thursday evening, Mr W. Rennie, out of a large number of applicants, was appointed to the position of inspector of nuisances for the borough. Mr Rennie is a well-known resident, and has in past years proved his worth as a corporation official. Before entering the service of the Southland Times Office as machinist, he was for five years fireman and inspector of works here, assisted the engineer when the main sanitary drains of the town were laid, took part in the putting down of the gas-works plant, and for a number of years did admirable service in the volunteer fire brigade, of which he was for a long time captain, and holds a 16 years service medal from the United Fire Brigades Association of JM.Z. From this it will be seen that Mr Rennie is well-equipped for the office to which he has been appointed.
