STEWART ISLAND.

One of those pleasant breaks in the monotony of island life, in the shape of a school concert, took place in the Half Moon Bay Hall on the evening of the 14th inst. The entertainment, ■which was organised by The Heck school committee, proved very popular, the building being crowded. Mr J. H. Thompson, master of The Heck school, presided. A correspondent, who has kindly forwarded a report of the gathering, which appears to have been highly successful, has struck out a new line in reporting the various items. He explains that the letters ‘g ’ and ‘v g ’ in parentheses stand for ‘ good ’ and ‘ very good ’ respectively, and with these tew lines by way of preface we subjoin the programme as marked by our correspondent: Part 1. —Pianoforte solo (g), Miss G.
