Cricket.

I.C.C. Y STAR XI. This match was commenced on Wednesday, and at present is slightly in favour of the Star team. Winning the toss, the Star batted first, and knocked up the respectable total of 131, Turner, with 44, and McKay, with 26 showing vigorous cricket for their runs. The heavy showers which fell during the afternoon greatly interfered with the bowlers, none of whom came out with a good average. With forty minutes to bat, Howden and Purdue opened for the 1.C.C., and took the score to 39 before the latter was caught by Aspray when going well. Blakely and Tennent did not stay long at the wickets, and the score at the call of time was 45 for 3 wickets. Howden, who was playing his first match of the season, showed dashing form for his 29 not out. The following are the scores : Star —Ist Innings.
