—+ I.C.C. Y. STAR XIII. This match was opened in beautiful weather. In the absence of Burnes, Kingsland skippered the I.C.C. and Dewar the Star. Kingsland and Blakeley opened up to the bowling of Paterson and Lillicrap, Runs came very quickly for the first twenty minutes, and a separation was not effected until Tom Kingsland skied one into Stevens’ hands, after compiling 23 —1 23 42. Purdue followed only to knock his wicket down for a blob. The remaining batsmen, except Dalrymple (not out, 12) and 'Murphy (9), offered very little opposition to the attackers. Blakeley was in splendid form, having registered 55 of the runs, obtained in his free and excellent style. The run out which caused his dismissal was rather unfortunate. The innings closed for 112. With only forty minutes to play the I.C.C. fairly brought about a rot in the Star ranks, and when time was called the XIII had lost seven of their wickets for a mere baker’s dozen. Purdue and Dalrymple were entrusted with the ball, and backed up by excellent fielding, the former-named was able to get three for eight and the latter four for five runs. I.C.C Ist innings.
