SETTLER’S PECULIAR DISABLEMENT
INJURED BY A PICK HANDLE. Picking my way from the township of Toongabbie (Vic.) one bright morning through paddocks and over fences (says a reporter of the Maffra Spectator) I came in sight of a lithe, active old man busy clearing. Engaging him in conversation, he said that notwithstanding his 61 years he was quite capable of doing his work. ‘ But mind you,’ said he, ‘ such was not always the case,’ and in response to further enquiries he said ; ‘ My name is Charles Henry Gales, and I have lived in Toongabbie for 31 years. Owing to a blow from a pick handle in ’9B, a pain attacked me in the groin. Then came sharp shooting pains, and a continuous ache which grew worse when I raised ray leg or stooped. I found I was a victim to sciatica. Pour months later my muscles became so contracted, and I was in such agony that I had to give tip work. A doctor examined me and prescribed, but as I grew no better I wrote to the Dr Williams’ Medicine Co., Queen’s Place, Sydney, giving full particulars of my case and asking if Dr Williams’ pink pills would cure me. They kindly gave me all necessary information, and I commenced the pills. After taking two boxes I felt relieved, The pains lessened, and I could use my legs more freely. Three boxes completely cured me, and I was soon back to work clearing as vigorously as ever. I purchased six boxes of Dr Williams’ pink pills, but the other three I gave to my brother and they cured him of a skin disease. My health is perfect now, and I regret I did not use Dr Williams’ pink pills at first and so save expense. Sciatica may be induced by sudden blows, nervous strain, injury to the nerves, or impoverished blood. Outward applications only give temporary relief. Dr Williams’ pink pills purify and enrich the blood, and thus cure very many cases of sciatica and rheumatism, anaemia, eczema, rickets, erysipelas, consumption. They also care paralysis, locomotor ataxia, St. Vitus’ dance, neuralgia, after effects of influenza and fevers. Sold by chemists and storekeepers, and by the Dr Williams’ Medicine Co., Wellington, three shillings per box, six boxes sixteen and six, post free.
