LANDS FOR SETTLEMENT-

Mr Flatman recently asked the Minister of Lands when more land is likely to be acquired in South Canterbury for settlement under ‘ The Land for Settlements Act, 1894 ?’ Mr Seddon said the Land Purchase Board was now in treaty for more land in the locality mentioned, but until the negotiations were completed it could not be definitely stated what land would be acquired. The Government were alive to the fact that wherever any land had been acquired there had been twenty applications for every section. The land-hunger still continued, and it was the intention of the Government to satisfy every appetite.
