BAZAAR AT THE BLUFF.

A bazaar in connection with St. Matthew’s Guild, to provide funds for building a church at the Bluff was held at the Drill Hall on Wednesday 1 ’ evening. The proceedings were opened by the Hon. J. G. Ward. A play entitled “ Bluebeard ” gave

general satisfaction. The leading parts were taken by Misses Hamilton, Macdonald, Messrs Walker, Taylor, and C. JNichol. A piece entitled “ Searching for the Fairies was given by several little children. The stalls and tea kiosk were presided over by the ladies of St. Matthew’s Guild. A grand march took place in fancy costumes, making a picturesque display. The costumes were as follows: Miss Hamilton, Turkish Lady ~ Graham, Maid of Athens ~ Bertrand, Ireland ~ Macdonald, Turkish Lady ~ Annie Graham, Shepherdess ~ Metzger, Union Jack ~ Dale, Ivy ~ TJrwin, Summer ~ Roberts, Artist ~ Hewlett, Good Luck Mrs Neville, Cook up to-date Miss Bradshaw, India „ Daisy Hamilton, Cinderella „ Mary McGrath, Fairy Godmother (Cinderella) Mr E. Nichol, Sultan ~ Poynter, Mounted Rifles (Victoria) ~ Metzger, Stars and Stripes ~ Macdonald, King Ethelbert ~ Undril, Rowing ~ C. Clare, Mounted Rifles (Southland) ~ W. Clare, Man.of-warsman ~ Hewlett, Hussar ~ Taylor, Pasha „ G.
