A RECORD SHIPMENT OF EGGS.

By the R.M.S. Himalaya, which left Melbourne for Loudon at the end of October, the Agricultural Department shipped 1,720 cases of fresh eggs, or in all 86 tons, representing 412,800 eggs, to that market This is a record shipment from the Australian colonies, and if it proves profitable it will be followed next year by other large consignments. The eggs will reach London in time for the Christmas market, when there will be a good demand for them. Previous trial shipments were successfully carried to London. Eggs have been selling from 7d to lOd per dozen in the Melbourne market recently; so that the collecting of this large consignment has not seriously affected the local market.
