WINTON.
Weather superb. Grass is more advanced now than it has been for years past at this time, and crops generally are starting to make up for lost time.
Winton still maintains its reputation for marriages. On Wednesday the eldest daughter (Maggie) of Mr W. Lindsay and the eldest son (Thomas) of Mr Jno. Hill were united in the holy bonds of matrimony by the Rev. Father O’Neil. The church was packed. The bride and her attendants looked charming. I
wish Mr and Mrs Hill long life and prosperity. Mrs Cole, the mother of our esteemed townsman, passed away a few days since. The deceased had resided close to Christchurch for a number of years, and died there. She was highly respected by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Between shearing and getting ready for the late turnips the farmers are having a busy time of it. Where are the members of the A. and P. Association P There has been no meeting for the past two months.
