NORTHCOTE’S KINEMATOGRAPH.

We direct attention to the fact that on Monday next and the two following evenings, Mr Northcote will present at the local theatre, for the first time in New Zealand, a unique and interesting Kinematographic exhibition of incidents of the late Spanish-Aiuerican war, showing the rival fleets in action, some thrilling land engagements, and in fact giving a realistic representation of the principal features of the whole campaign. Mr Abbott, the agent for the company, informs us that these pictures were taken on the spot by a specially commissioned corps of war correspondents, acting on behalf of the American Kinematograph company. In the I'st of pictures we notice the following : —The good ship Maine before the explosion; divers at work on the same vessel after the disaster (this is claimed as a triumph of the photographers art, as it is the first reproduction of a series of photos taken under water) ; the United States Artillery in action ; Spanish mounted infantry in retreat; call to arms on board a U.S. warship; the battle of Manilla; engagements with the Cuban rebels; charge of the Spanish cavalry ; American war ships in action ; the surrender of Santiago, and some 20 other attractive and interesting war pictures, with the addition of characteristic Spanish, Cuban and American scenes. A special feature of the entertainment will be a bright musical melange, for which a number of artistes have been engaged. Tickets for all parts of the house can be obtained during the day at Mr A. Ferguson’s.
