report having held their fortnightly sale of stock at the Inveicargill yards on Tuesday. The entry of cattle was small, but quite sufficient for the demand. Of sheep 1426 fat and 3021 stores were yarded, and these suffered a decline in value of about 6d per head. Fat Cattle —61 yarded, most of inferior quality. Best bullocks brought L7to L 6 ; medium, L 5 10s to L 5 ; light, L 4 15s to L 4 ; cows and heifers, best, L 6 10s to L 6 ss; medium, L 4 10s to L 3 10s. Store Cattle —183 head yarded; no improvement in prices. Sheep—Wethers, best, 12s to lls ; ordinary, 10s 6d to 10s; ewes, 8s 9d to 8s for good sorts ; old and thin, 6s 6d to 4s 6d; store 2-tooths, 9s 6d to 9s for good sorts; light and thin, 8s to 7s. Horse Market—On Saturday we held our weekly sale in the Prince of Wales yards, when we had over 80 forward, including some really useful horses. The demand for best was fairly good, but old were not much enquired for. We sold a first-class gelding on account of Mr T. Hughes at L 36 ; others at L3O to L 25 for good sorts ; medium, L 23 to Ll 7 ; aged, Ll2 to LB. Hacks showed no improvement in value.
