MATAURA.
A very pretty wedding took place at St, Saviour’s church on the 24th, the contracting parties being John Arbuckle Walker and Johanna Walton of Mataura. The Rev. A. R. D. Tosswill of Gore officiated. Miss N. Hamlin acted as bridesmaid, and Mr W. Rennie as groomsman. The bride wore a pretty costume of blue shot material trimmed with cream satin and chiffon, veil, and orange blossoms. The bridesmaid wore a navy blue costume, trimmed pink shot silk and chiffon, and cream hat. The wedding march was nicely played by Mrs Ritchie, organist of St. Saviour’s church, after the service, and special hymns were sung by the choir. After the ceremony the company adjourned to the residence of the bride’s parents, where they partook of a sumptuous breakfast, toasts being proposed by Mr Tosswill and others. The presents were many and costly. In the evening a dance was held, about 50 guests being present. Two violins, flute, and accordeons supplied the music. Songs were sung by members of the company, a sailor’s hornpipe was danced by Mr T. Cbatterton, the Highland fling by Mr P. MacOubbin, and a clog dance by Mr T, Carroll.
