NOTES.
In a case brought by the Inspector of N uisances, Invercargill, against a cyclist tor riding on a footpath in the public gardens, between Nith and Conon streets, Mr McNab raised the point that there was no offence, the Corporation having failed to post notices as required by the Act, The information was accordingly dismissed. The N.Z. Natives’ Association, Wellington, held a very successful gathering on 29th ult. The Post states that the events for cash bicyclists furnished some splendid racing and close finishes. Prom the same source I learn that an old Invercargill wheelman, Mr B. J. Atkinson, received great credit for the condition of the track —a part of the work carried out under his supervision. The Ensign reports that a Chinaman pedalling sedately down Main street on Saturday occasioned a mild sensation in Gore. Although the official balance-sheet has not yet been prepared, it is expected that the Gore Cycling Club will incur a loss of about £lO over the late race meeting.
