Bluff Notes.

Lord Hampden, Governor of Hew South Wales, and suite left by the ;s.s Talune on Tuesday, One of our old landmarks, i.e.j. the iron store, is to be removed, having been on Thursday sold by Messrs, Henderson and Batger for removal, Mr Warren being the purchaser. This building was, I believe, first erected in Melbourne, was then transferred to Invercargill and from there was brought, to the Bluff by the late Mr L. Longuet. It is now giving place to Government offices. Owing to the inclement weather the Presbyterian Sunday School picnic had to be abandoned, the children being entertained in the Drill Hall.

On Tuesday evening a meeting of the Borough Council was attended by the Mayor (the Hon. J. G. Ward) and Ors. McDougall, Metzger, Bertrand, Fox, Lee and Reed. Crs. McDougall and Metzger were j

appointed to inspect a stone crushing plant with a view to purchase. Mr W m. Preston was appointed Inspector of Nuisances for the Borough. In future the Council meeting's will be held on the last Friday of each month. Accounts amounting to £54 16s 6d were passed for payment.
