THE BLACK FAMILY.
These artistes gave one of their popular concerts in the Temperance Hall on New Year’s night to a good house, considering the strong counterattraction at the Theatre. The programme opened with the selection ‘ Stars and Stripes,’ by the orchestra, consisting of Mr A. Black, sen. (bassoon), Mr J. Black (clarinet), Mrs Black (piano), Miss Nellie (first violin). Master Bertie (cornet), and Miss Elsie (second violin). A good impression was made by this selection, and each of the performers in their later efforts met with hearty receptions, and were enthusiastically applauded and frequently encored. The triple-tongue polka of Master Bertie was much appreciated ; Miss Nellie was very successful in her songs, and her violin solo, ‘De Beriot’s sth air,’ was given with excellent taste. Violin duets, a ’cello solo, comic songs (by Mr J. Black), and comic duets, and a violin solo by Miss Doris, a little dot of five years, made up a capital programme, and one that could not fail to please the most fastidious.
