Country News.
(From Oar Own Correspondents.) WAIRIO. The farmers are up to their eyes in business just now, between shearing, turnip-sowing and preparations for the coming festive season. The glorious sunshine we have at last got seems to have imparted fresh life to all things human and vegetable. High winds appear to be a thing of the past, for which we are truly thankful. The Opio school children and a large number of parents passed through here last Friday en route for Riverton. They were more fortunate than our children as regards the weather, for Friday was a perfect summer day, as the sunburnt faces of the youngsters on their return testified. The Wesleyan Minister (Mr Greenslade) has, I hear, discontinued the fortnightly service in our school, as since the erection of the Aparima school services have been held there. It is a more central place. Mr McDonald Presbyterian minister, delivers his first discourse there next Sunday. He still continues bis services in our school.
