A. A. Mac Gibbon on behalf of the N. M. and A. Co. reports on the Invercargill markets as follows: Gore Sale, Tuesday, 30th.—About 6,000 sheep were entered, and evidently nobody meant business, as most of the sheep were passed, reserves being beyond buyers’ ideas. We sold a small line of store wethers at 8s lid to 9s 4d, fat ewes at 10s sd. Taking the sale all round it was the worst for some time, and before sales can be made owners will require to reduce their prices. Wednesday, 31st—We held a clearing sale of stock at Mr Adamson’s farm, East Koad, and disposed of everything at satisfactory prices. 23 dairy cows averaged L 4 12s each, 9 2-year-old heifers at L 3 15s each, 11 yearling heifers at L2 7s to L2 17s 6d each, and 14 head mixed yearlings at 39s each. Winton Sale, Thursday, Ist February. — About 4,00 J sheep entered, and met with a good market. Best heavy fat wethers brought 12s 4d, heavy weight ewes 10s 7d to 11s sd, store wethers (large frames) 10s 6d to 11s Id, small do 8s 4d to 9s 6d, ewes and lambs (all counted) 6s to 9s lid each. We sold 1,100 at quotations. Wyndham Sale, Thursday, 25th Jan.— Owing to a few northern buyers being present the sheep went off much more freely than expected, showing that if local buyers are afraid those near a bigger market are not, and no doubt the abundance of feed in the Taieri will soon help to turn all those purchased into high-class freezers. Best 2-tooth wethers sold up to 11s, maiden ewes (fat) to lls 6d, dry ewes and wethers 10s, while inferior lines sold at much lower rates—cull 2-tooth wethers at ss, and a line of about 2,000 2-tooth wethers at 8s 6d. The demand was for good stock only, a number of inferior lots being turned out unsold. About 150 head cattle were yarded to a dull market, the bulk of the entry being turned out, no buyers being present. We sold 77 head at 50s for wellgrown yearlings, 3-year-old steers L 4 3s, heifers at L 3 to L 3 16s, and calves at 255. ,
