TO TAKE AN INVALID
The procession of friends bearing flowers arid fruit is a part of the boring uncomfortable life ef an invalid. This sounds ungrateful, I know, but does it ever occur to you how tired invalids get of grapes, just as royalty must, I'm sure, be sick to death of pink carnations? asks a writer in an exchange. There are so many things you can take her besides fruit and flowers. Books, of course, light amusing ones, slim, and easy to hold, with comfortable large print. A gramophone record of the latest dance so that'she shall not feel out of things; a picture that has pleased you; some - cream and powder if she is beginning to think of her appearance., or a pretty cover for her pillow. If you take her a present of a nightgown' or little bed-jacket, have them made like all hospital clothes are, cut down the back and tying with a ribbon at the neck like a pinafore. Then the poor invalid doesn't have to be moved to have it put on.
