ALSO FASTEST TIME-6 HOURS 29. J MINUTES. PALM ERSTON— LEI V IN—WEI LINGTON. The first cycle road .race from .Palmerston to Wellington, Levin, was won on Saturday by V. Tippett, of Hawera, who also ,pui up the fastest time, namely ,6 hours 29 minutes 30 seconds, for the 102 miles from •starting point to finishing post. In Saturday’s isfeue the race was followed to Poritrua, where Tippett had taken the lead, which he maintained on to tile Basin Reserve. THE FINISH. The first piiree to arrive at the winning post were:— V. Tippett (35min.) 1 A. Beattie (30min.) ... 2 11. S, Webber (40min.) ... 3 Tippett also put up fastest time, 6 hour's 29min. 30secs. Beattie did it in 6.42.27 and Webber 6.54.0 Following' them came Chammin, Pedley, (tone and iPrendergast. Tippet won by ten minutes and then came Beattie, followed five minutes later by Webber and Chammin, who fought out a great - finish for third place Webber won by a wheel. He rode a great race, being amongst the first three from Levin and takes 1 the Levin Athletic Club's trophy for being the first rider to reach Levin.
