Rubber hot water bottles should bo suspended upside down when not ip use.

i Before sewing on hooks and eyes, boil them in strong soda water. This will prevent them rusting in the wash. Dry the green tops of celery in an oven, rub them down to powder, store in jars, and use as flavouring for soups and stews.

To remove coffee stains from a delicate material, brush the marks with pure glycerine, rinse in luke-warm water, and press on the wrong side. To remove .tea stains from linen mix the yolk of an egg with an equal quantity *of glycerine, rub. on the stain, and leave till dry. Rinse in cold water and the stain will disappear. When you wish to warm up a joint, let it stand in cold water for about three minutes before putting it into the oven. This will make it taste almost exactly like freshly-cooked meat. For cleaning hair brushes, borax is excellent. Dip the brush up and down in a warm solution of water, a teaspoonful of borax, and a tablespoonfu of soda. Do not wet the backs of the brushes. , Neglected glass iugs and decanters may be cleaned by filling with stained tea-leaves covered with equal parts ,of vinegar and warm water. Allow to stand for several hours, then rinse in clear, cold water. When you have upset grease on the kitchen floor, sprinkle' powered bathbrick on it and leave for a time. Then, when the kitchen is cleaned, scrubbing with hot soda water will remove ah traces. . * -

If a patent shoe pinches any part of the foot, a rag well soaked in boiling water should be placed over the part. If this is done while the foot is in the shoe, the leather will soften to the shape of the foot. Meat will be hard, however good in quality it may be, if, when being roasted, it is not put for the first five minutes into an oven hot enough to seal the outside of the meat, and so prevent the juices from escaping. Pastry boards, rolling pins, flour bins, or any other article that has been touched with flour, should never be cleaned with hot water. This thickens the paste and discolours the wood. AH such remains may be scrubbed awa;. with cold water if the job is done immediately after the articles have been used.

A simple way to label jelly is to write the name on the hardened paraffin which seals the top. '

Eats and mice have been found to possess a strong antipathy to the odour of peppermint, and will flee from any place where it can be smelled. A pinch of baking" powder added to cream when it is beginning to turn wit sweeten it, and the soda taste is not noticeable.
