FAIRLIE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Fairlie School Committee there were present— J. Binney (chairman), A. 0. Gilmour, R. Gillingham, Foden and Sheehan. The headmaster reported that the number on the roll was 121, and that the average attendance for the last quarter so far had been 110.6; that the children were busy preparing for the school concert on the 7th December, and will give about a dozen items. 'The inspector’s report upon the annual standard examination was read, and considered very satisfactory, the chairman remarking that it was undoubtedly the best report ever gained by the school and that great credit was due to the teachers for their successful efforts. Advice wiis received of the incidental grant for the quarter, £6 2» 6d, being paid into the battik; also from the Board re repairs applied for; that new gates will be provided, and the architect wilf report upon other matters. Messrs Binney, K. Gillingham and King were appointed a concert committee, and Mr Binney as visitor for the month. Accounts amounting to £3 were passed for payment, and the meeting closed.
