Wanganui Show.
A COLONIAL RECORD,
Per Press Association.
’ WANGANUI, November 22. The Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral show was held to-day, and was the most successful in the history of the Association. The entries were only a little below the aggregate of those at Palmerston North, and in excess of those at Christchurch, the figures being—Christchurch, 1067; Palmerston North, 1262; Wanganui, 1130. It was the best display of horses yet held in the colony, especially in the draught and hack classes. There was a beautiful day and a record attendance. The championships were awarded as follows:—Horses, draught entire, W. H. Anderson, Cralgelachie; sheep, Lincoln ram, J. W. Wilkie, Manutahi; Lincoln ewe, John Wilkie; Down rams, R. Lancaster; Down ewes. R. Lancaster; cattle, shorthorn bull, Moore and Hunter’s Oxford Duke of Yerdon; shorthorn cow, A. A. Fautham’r, Duchess of Derrimut; Jersey or Alderney bull, John Donald’s Hector McDonald ; best cow in milk (Jersey or Alderney), Mrs Crawley’s Sylvia. Visitors who were present from all parts of the colony spoke highly of the show as a whole. It is intended to hold a two ' days’ show next year.
