(By Telegraph.) Abduction dace. AUCKLAND, January 16. Buchanan, for the abduction of the girl Emily Young, was sentenced to nine months. The Letter Cards. WELLINGTON, January 16. There has been a very great demand for the new letter cards issued by the Post Office at the beginning of the year, and the innovation seems to be highly appreciated bythe public. Up to date between forty and fifty thousand cards have been §old throughout the colony. On account of the holidays the Government Printing office was not able to supply them as expeditiously as required. A New Racing Yacht. The new racing yacht Waitangi, built by Logan of Auckland, for a Wellington syndicate, arrived from Auckland at two o’clock this afternoon after „ a rough passage. She competes in the First Class Championship Race at the Anniversary Regatta next week. The Half-Holiday. DUNEDIN, January 16. The half-holiday is generally observed to-day throughout the city.
