MAORI WOMEN’S PARLIAMENT.

(By Telegraph.) NAPIER, January 14. The Maori Women’s Parliament at Tehauke has concluded. The following resolutions were passed:—“Have nothing to do with the Native Land Court; cease all further selling of land, no further renting of land, and no further surveys to begone into; should any man, woman or child break the above regulations they be fined according to whatever the Maori women’s committee think right; the parchment which is to be signed by all the natives of both Islands is to be completed within this year, and the amount paid by each person who signs the parchment is to be £l, according to the rules laid down in 1892, such amount to be paid this year.” In bringing the meeting to a close the chairwoman said : —“ We find that after many years the men’s endeavour to carry out our interests have failed, and therefore we women have formed ourselves into a' parliament or committee and now we are going to do what we can. Our lands are slipping away from us every day into the hands of the Government, and therefore we must protect ourselves. Should we not succeed we will find ourselves like shags on a sand bank spreading our wings to the wind.”
