In the arbitration case before the Jockey Club with reference to the long-standing dispute between Sir George Chetwynd and the Earl of Durham, the former stated that he was positive that the alleged jockey King never had any existence. He admitted purchasing some of Charles Woods’ (the jockey’s) horses, the price to be contingent on the horses winning.

Prince Nikita, of Montenegro, has given orders that the Montenegrin army be placed on a service footing at the shortest notice.

The co-operative congress of Ipswich has adopted a resolution hostile to the Sugar Bounties Convention.
