Death of Mr Pelham Jones.

(By Telegraph.) DUNEDIN, May 26, At the inquest on the body of Mr Pelham Jones, who died from injuries received by being thrown from Monteagle in the hurdle race on the first day of the races, the medical evidence wr.s to the effect that no boucs were broken or dislocated, but after death it was seen that there was a fracture at the base of the skull which had caused concussion of the brain. Little is known of the deceased except that he was a farmer near Waimate ; a native of England, and had been at Harrow.
