(By Telegraph.)

CHRISTCHURCH, April 25

A deputation from the Chamber of Commerce waited on Mr Maxwell this afternoon, and expressed approval of the alteration of tho express, as thereby Australian letters, which now reach here on Tuesday, would arrive on Monday, allowing a day for answering them. Tho deputation suggested lowering the passenger rates, and running a night train once a week. Mr Maxwell promised to bring the questions before his fellowCornmissioners. He left for Wellington this evening.
