The whole of the Australian colonies have agreed to invite General Edwards, of the Imperial army, to make a periodical inspection of tho colonial forces and defences. EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPE FROM DROWNING. Melbourne, April 25. An extraordinary escape from drowning is reported. As the steamer Cuzco was coming up Hobson’s Bay, a passenger, Mrs Walker, fell overboard, and although a thorough search was at once instituted no trace of her could be found. Half an hour later, as the steamer Parramatta was proceeding down the bay Mrs Walker was observed floating about in the water, and a boat being lowered she was taken on board the steamer, and found to bo but Ijttle the vyorse for the mishap.
