The following awards have been made in fleece wools ;—beat unskirted ram’s fleece, McLean, Hawke’s Bay, third. Long wool, greasy, Reid, Oamaru first ; R. Cobb, Palmerston North, second ;J. Wallace, Papatoitoi third. Best unskirted Ewe’s fleece, Reid, first, second and third. Best unakirted ewe’s fleece not previously shown, McLean, Hawkes Bay, second ; Joseph and Phillips, Wairarapa, third. The jurors in their report state that in their opinion tho regulations controlling the awards encourage a tendency to breed for weight rather than quality, thus placing high class wools at a disadvantage.
