FROZEN MEAT.
Sib, —I have read Mr Douglas’s letter which appeared in your issue of Saturday last with much interest. I should, however, like to have a little light thrown upon the words contained in the postscript to the letter in question. As a shareholder in our local freezing company, I am not so well up with the ins-and-outs of the frozen meat trade as Mr Douglas must necessarily be, and I think there are many shareholders similarly circumstanced to myself who would like to have the. whole of the figures explained in unmistakable clearness, and perhaps Mr Douglas, for the benefit of those who are not so well up in the subject, would point out where and in what manner the inconsistency he refers to consists. I have so far seen no clear statement of what would be the actual price obtained by those who sold to the shipping companies at 2|d. per pound, nor any figures showing how such result is brought about. The importance of this subject to all concerned in Timaru and the surrounding district, must be my excuse for troubling you so far.
I am, etc., iGNOBAMITfI
