DUNEDIN A. AND P. SHOW.
(Bv Telegraph.) DUNEDIN. Oct. £4. The show was marred to a great extent by rain showers, and the attendance was not so good as might otherwise have been expected. In thoroughbred stallions, to everyone’s surprise, Gorton was awarded first prize, Eubequhall second, and Le Loup third. In hams and bacon McDonald and Miller T. Bates, and A. M. Allan scored firsts in a closely contested competition. Exhibits in salt and fresh butter were exceptionally good. Firsts were taken by Mrs A. McKay, Mrs Thornton, Miss Nimmo and Mrs Hutchison. In cheese, the Healey Dairy Factory and Langlea’s factory won first. The exhibits of cheese were rather poor. Christchurch breeders of pigs, Messrs Rowe and Clarkson swept the board of prizes for Berkshire pigs. Allan took three and Clarkson one in other classes of pigs. Lord Salisbury takes first in allaged draughts, beating British Lion and Laird of Kilbride and Gawn’s Pride. Darling took the first prize for the best mare with foal at foot.)
