THE BRYCE HUTCHINSON PETITION.
(By Telegraph). WANGANUI,' Nov. 23. Mr Hutchison received to-day full details of the charges brought by Mr Bryce in his election petition. The charges are divided into eight classes, the first and most important being bribery. Mr Hutchison is charged with having given sundry voters £1 each to pay their expenses in coming to vote, and with making promises in regard of appointments to other voters. A charge is made, under this section against Mr Ballance to the effect that he gave authority that survey parties should be allowed to vote at the nearest booth at which they were qualified, receiving one day’s pay, and their absence not to cause them a loss of position in the parties. There are several charges of treating by agents on the following day, and of treating by Mr Hutchison and his agents on days other than the polling days. It is also alleged that {some minors were induced to vote, that conveyances were hired, that voters were conveyed, and that two claims to vote were filled in by an agent without written authority. The case comes on next Wednesday before the Chief Justice and Mr Justice Williams.
