New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock remains at £96 10s. New Zealand wheat, in store, is quoted at 32s to 33s 6d according to quality. Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. Clyde, has advanced from 41s to 42s per ton. NAYAL DEFENCE BILL. Brisbane, Nov. 22, In the Assembly to-night the Naval Defence Bill, after most a determined opposition, passed its second reading by a majority of four, the numbers being ; for the second reading 23 against 19. SHIPPING. San Francisco, Nov. 20. Union Company’s S.S Zealandia left here yesterday (Saturday) morning at ten o’clock for New Zealand. (Received 2.35 p.m., Nov. 23rd.) SYMPATHY WITH IRISH TENANTS Melbourne, Nov. 23. At a meeting of the Irish Nationalist party held in the Hibernian Halllast evenning,there were 1200 present. Sir Bryan O’Laughlin presided, and resolutions were adopted expressing sympathy with the Irish people in the present state of Ireland. Upwards of £4OO was subscribed in the room towards assistance of evicted tenants. IMPORT DUTY ON GRAIN. Sydney, Nov. 23. The P. and 0. Co.’s steamship Rome from Melbourne (October 6th) arrived at Plymouth yesterday (Sunday) evening.
