Serious Accident.

THIS DAY. Wellington, Oct. 8. A man named Phipps, a cook on board the brig Wave, met with a serious accident this morning. He was working at a hand winch while loading tallow, when the man on the secondbandle missed his hold. The barrel of the winch flew round and the handle struck Phipps on the forehead smashing it in. The brain is protruding and Phipps is not expected to recover.
