The Colonial Engineer reports that it will cost £BOOO to repair the damage done to the Oamaru breakwater in the decent gales,' and £22,000 more’to make it safe against future damagb. A split has formed round the head of the'breakwater, but it (can be' removed by dredging from time to titpe. Proposals have been submitted to the Board by which the money can be raised npon application to Parliament on security of extra rates on the district.
