WHAT IS FRENCH BREAD P THIS DAY. By Telegbaph. Wanganui, Sept. 4, In the case brought by the police against a baker for selling French bread under weight, the question as to what French bread) was arose. Telegrams received from Dunedin, Auckland and Wellington showed that different names were applied to the same loaf in those places. Mr Ward R.M. held that it was generally known as French] bread and must be full weight. Regarding tin loaves be considered them fancy bread. If they were not that there was no provision under the Act for baking them at all. Au appeal will possibly be made re French bread. Further evidence is being called. The fine in this case will be fixed on Tuesday.
