GERALDINE.
The Yea. Archdeacon Harper made his annual visitation to St. Mary’s Church, Geraldine, on Tuesday afternoon, when there were present to meet him the Eev. J. Preston, incumbent, Dr Fish and Mr T. Hughes, churchwardens,Messrs W. U. Slack, W. Moore, J.'Kellaud, W. Barker, W. Coltmau, E. S. Cook, E. Hurdcanle, W. Willoughby, and S. J. EckforJ. After examining the church register and other documents relative to church matters, the Yen. Archdeacon expressed himself as highly satisfied with the manner in which everything was managed. The meeting then adjourned to the Mechanics Institute where a vistry meeting was held, all the above gentlemen being present. The Eev. J. Preston occupied the chair. Mr Hughes, the Churchwarden, stated he had forwarded all the necessary information n repairs to the parsonage, and likewise stated Mr Skiers had made an inspection of the promises, and from his report the repairs were very much needed.
After a’,long disemsion it was resolved that the Churchwardens procure an estimate of the probable cost, and lay the same before a subsequent meeting. An account was presented from Mr Craigie, of Timaru, plumber, and as there seemed to be some dispute in the matter, it was left with Mr Hughes and Mr Eckford to arrange. It was resolved that a vote of thanks be forwarded to Mr Tl os. Sherratt for his kindness in repairing the harmonium free of charge, and for lending one to the Church during the time of repairs; also free of charge.
