(Feb Press Association.) THIS DAYTrumped up Charge* Gisborne, Jan. 10. The Gisborne Resident Magistrate’s Court was occupied all yesterday in hearing a charge of alleged rape preferred against Richard Greenaway, baker, on Mary Walker, a shop woman where be worked. The offence is alleged to have been committed while the woman was insensible through a fall from a horse. The esse was dismissed without calling on the defence.
An Enthusiastic Bicyclist* Wellington, Jan. 10. Mr Fitten, of Messrs Fitten and Service, Auckland, rode from Auckland to Masterton, on a bicycle. He intended to ride to Wellington, but, on teaching Masterton, two of the spokes gave out, and he had to come to Wellington by train to have it repaired, as he did not think the machine would stand going over the Rimutaka. He left by train and intends leaving Featherston this morning, and riding to New Plymouth, taking steamer to Auckland, He left Auckland on Christmas Day, and came into Wellington on Monday night.
