Fatal AccidentGbeymouth, April 10. A fatal accident occurred to-day, by which Jas. Foster was crushed to death. He and others were engaged in lifting a large block of stone with a crane. The stone, being too heavy, overbalanced the crane, which turned over, emptying a box full of pig iron on Foster, who only lived a few minutea. Another man, named Austin, bad a most miraculous escape.

’ Right School* Nelson, April 10. The Nelson School Committee have established a nigbt school for lads and it has been well attended. Oddfellows Anniversary. A dinner was held at Stoke last night, to celebrate the 41st Anniversary of the establishment of Oddfellows at Nelson, and the Anniversary of the Past Grand Lodge. Mr Sheppard, was in the chair, and Mr Levestnm, M.H.R., was also present. Several of those present spoke’’against Major Atkinson’s insurance scheme, the arguments being that whilst the contributions would prove toO great a tax, Government made no provision for medical attendance, which was said to be of greater advantage than sick pay.
