MAGISTERIAL.
TEMUEA-YESTERDAY. (Before J. Beswick, Esq., E.M.) BEEACH OF THE LICENSING ACT, R. Fenton, licensee of the Temaka Hotel, was charged with unlawfully allowing drink to be supplied to other than travellers on Sunday, March 11. The evidence of M. Dunn, J. Casey and J. Leahy showed that they had been supplied with three glssses of beer in the absence of Mr Fenton. His Worship inflicted a fine of £5, but said he would not record the conviction on the license. CIVIL CASES. In the following cases judgment was given for plaintiffs :—J.' Harrop v. G. Gapes, £2 Is lOd; W. Essery v. Same, claim £4 6s 4d; D. Rae v, J. Denehy, claim 14s; W. Lewis v. W. H. Scott, claim £7. J. Rae v. J. Watkins, claim £2.
On the application of Mr Hamersley for the defendant, a re-hearing was granted on condition that the claim and costs should be paid into Court.
